Can A Chain Saw Be Used To Prune Bushes?

Chainsaws can be used in tidying up shrubs and hedges in your garden.  While not as effective as a hedge trimmer, a chainsaw can cut fast enough to trim through lighter woods. But chainsaws are not good for precision cuts. nesting your garden will only need a chainsaw.

Bar Length Selection

Longer Bars are used by chainsaws compared to hedge trimmers usually for cutting bigger wood. Luckily, there are 3 available size of bars for chainsaws. If you plan on cutting a lot of bushes, go to the lowest bar size recommended for your chainsaw, which will give added control to the cutting and reduce the cutting area.  If you just want to get through it quick, use a longer bar to whack those bushes. Longer bar lengths are used in cutting bigger shrubs and bushes.

Sharping the Chains

Keeping the chain sharp is a mandate for all chainsaw cutting but especially when cutting lighter materials such as brushes. The sharpness of the chains determine the precision of the cuts, and prevent the chainsaws from snapping with twigs. The chain will also have less tension in the chains making it more loose and will run smoothly. It will also prevent the chain from popping off the bar suddenly.

Operating Procedures

Operating the chainsaws correctly will prevent any accidents and harm to the user. To slice or cut the twigs of bushes, pull the trigger fully to ensure full capacity of the chainsaw. Correct operation can also reduce the risk of bind and chain breakage.  If possible, work with just the tip and the underside of the chain, which has the highest speeds and most effective cutting. To keep you from any danger, just use the tip of your chainsaws. Accidents may occur so having a partner is an advantage.

Safety Considerations

Make sure that you use the proper protective gear in using the chainsaws. An added piece of protective gear --- chainsaw chaps --- should be used when brushing. It is used in your front legs to protect it from chain pops during the trimming of shrubs.  Never cut with the power head above your head; if you have taller hedges and bushes, use a pole saw or other equipment to safely cut those areas.
